Travel Diary: California

With the exception of summer camping trips, I don't travel much. This past week I was lucky enough to embark on a road trip to San Diego with my family. While nothing on this trip went as planned, I wouldn't trade these memories for anything.

We began our trip early Monday morning driving west through Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. Our plan was to stop and spend the night in Las Vegas. After an hour of sleeping in Vegas we packed up and continued driving to San Diego. The 23 hours of driving in one day was exhausting to say the least.

After sleeping for a few hours upon our arrival, Tuesday was spent at the beach pretending to be in a Dashboard Confessional video and relaxing.

Wednesday was another day spent relaxing and enjoying the company of family. Unfortunately the majority of my family could not make it out to San Diego because of a Denver snow storm that closed DIA. However we made the best out of the day. In the evening, we ventured down to the Gaslamp quarter to take photos as the sun set into the ocean. The streets were glowing so beautifully, I thought the city was on fire. Eventually, I wandered on top of a parking garage where I watched the sun set beneath the waves.

There is nothing better than spending time with people that I love in places that take my breath away.
